Puzzlegrass Midnight Press Release

What an exciting time. We’ve just announced Puzzlegrass. Josh is in town and we walked through Sutro Forest yesterday, visiting sites from the Genesis Mad Scientist project and getting into the details of Puzzlegrass and our working together. Metaphoring all over the place. I love it.

But it’s also been a stressful time. After the announcement earlier in the week and all the talks around the launch, last night I had trouble sleeping. Somewhere between dream and restlessness I kept circling an image. It was a stage, constructed entirely of those old-timey TNT barrels.

The barrels were arranged very neatly, much neater than I can draw them. They were newly cooped barrels and I was impressed with their uniformity and the even and contiguous surface they created. I also admired how within that uniformity, the boards on the barrel-tops created this random chaotic pattern.

Interestingly, this nearly exactly mimicked the wall treatment at the Vietnamese place Josh and I ate at later that afternoon.

So there’s a better Puzzlegrass press statement than I could’ve possibly written. A tidy portrait of how we’re feeling about stepping up onto this new stage. We welcome your own interpretations, extrapolations, explosions, etc.
